FERAL CATS IN THE CITY OF CONROE - We are pleased to announce that Spay/Houston and Clipped Ear Cat Sanctuary are targeting the City of Conroe to trap/neuter/return ("TNR") feral cats. Thanks to funding from the Robbie Jones Animal Welfare Fund, we are able to provide TNR services for free roaming cats in an effort to reduce the number of unwanted cats entering into the Conroe Animal Shelter. We will be setting up a TNR MASH unit in Conroe to field calls, loan traps, and train members of the community to do TNR. If you are a concerned citizen and would like to help TNR, if you need barn cats, or you can donate to help continue this program, please contact Deana Sellens at dsellens@spayhouston.org or 281-260-0015.
GIVE US A LINCOLN AND WE'LL KEEP YOUR CAT FROM STINKIN'! - Spay/Houston with the support of the Homeless Pet Placement League will be neutering male cats for $5 on 2/28/12 in recognition of National Spay Day. You do not need to be on public assistance to qualify. Simply call or email to book an appointment for 2/28/12. There is a limit of 2 cats per household. Rabies shots this day will be $10 on this day. If your cat is not current on rabies, we are required by law to give one.
The following funding is currently available for people needing assistance. If you do not qualify, call our office and ask about additional resources. There are groups in Houston and surrounding areas who may be able to help!
FREE OR WITH CO-PAY FEMALE PIT BULL SPAYS (FEMALES) - We received a small grant to spay some female pit bulls for pet owners on public assistance. Pet owners who are on disability, Social Security, unemployment, or food stamps qualify for this program.
EAST ALDINE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT - East Aldine Management District Residents on Public Assistance - We have a number of free surgeries who have been funded by the East Aldine Management District. To qualify for assistance, you must be a resident of the East Aldine Management District and you must be on public assistance. Please note, you cannot walk in for these spots. We must validate your address with the East Aldine Management District before booking your appointment.
If your company would like to fund some community freebies, please contact dsellens@spayhouston.org. Remember, spay/neuter is the only road to no kill in our shelters!
